Summer Palace

We decided that a good Sunday activity would be to go tour the Summer Palace.  It was absolutely beautiful! When we first got in we had to cross a bridge.

Of course we have to take jumping pictures!

Amanda saw this pole and said "Jana! we have to do it again!" this one is even cooler.

we went into a little room and they said "no photo!" but somehow... I have a photo teehee
I don't really know what this was about, but we look pretty cool.

the view from the top was beautiful!

Some people are constantly dancing.  They were very simple, graceful dances.

apparently Buddha wasn't always a fat man.  He used to be a skinny mans with many arms

me and Britta had to stop to get a Chinese Corndog.  It did not taste like a corndog at all, it was sweet but it was still good.

this was my first time ever seeing real lilly pads. They grow from the ground under the water.  A lot of them are still connected to their stems. They are very different than I imagined.

On the subway on the way home we couldn't find Jocelyn. She blends in well.
We went to the Silk market after the summer palace. this was on our way over there.

The silk market was pretty cool. It was a really fancy building with like five flours. the first few floors had clothes and then we got into the cool stuff like the beats.  Me and Miranda both got four pair of them for 50 dollars each.  So I paid 200 dollars for four pairs when in America people pay 200 for one pair.
I passed a pile of penny boards and said "oh that's cool" and then the lady sucked me in.  I ended up buying one for 22 dollars.  I think it will be fun!

When I got back to the hostel I was texting my mom.  She is real tech savvy... I love her.

I seriously love my mom though.  My phone stopped working because a week ago when I fell on it.  It works a little but it's very hard to do anything  on it.  I told her about my problems because I was just so distraught and she told me I could buy another one but to talk to my coordinators.  The next day she texted me and told me I had a lot more money in my account then I used to have.  She Is a great mother who finds away to take care of me when we are clear on the other side of the world. I love you mommy!
